Sunday, May 1, 2022 - May Day

May Day is a holiday in France, celebrating workers, much like our Labor Day. So it's a good day to lay low and stay local. We think it's also the last day of Easter break for French students.

After breakfast Dave and Janis did a 10 km (6.5 miles) hike from Vandenesse, starting along the Burgundy canal, passing below Châteauneuf, skirting around Lac du Panthier, and then home. It took them about 2 1/2 hours. The day is beautiful - sunny with temperature about 60.

I worked on blog posts and photos and did a little picking up of our junk. It was nice to just hang out around our house. We had lunch at home and then everyone did their own thing. Dave read, Clark worked on photos and his sommelier duties. Janis and Clark zoomed with their Sunday school class. Later, Janis made a delicious chicken soup that we had for dinner.

Apéros in the back yard at 4 pm then dinner at 6. We're now listening to jazz fest on WWOZ. A nice way to spend a Sunday.

I'll leave you with a few photos from Dave's and Janis' hike along the canal.

  2. Reading you and admiring your pictures is so exciting! We're ready and eager to come! And all those names are wonderful memories of our bicycle tours with our friends!
We'll leave tomorrow morning after our snow tyres are replaced by the normal ones, there won't be any snow in Burgundy this time of year, will there? ;-)
    See you soon!
