Sunday, May 22, 2022 -Stocking up and Exploring the Neighborhood

First order of business, find food. Sundays can be hard if you need a grocery store. Some are closed. Most are open in the morning, closing between noon and 1:30. So there's no dilly-dallying this morning.

Dave has found a bakery in Larmor-Baden, about 5 km from here. And he had a hard time finding a parking place because there was a market going on! Just what we need. In fact, Dave has located an olive dealer and he sold Lucques olives. Jackpot! Lucques, from the Languedoc region are our favorite olives. Dave suggests we shop the market first, then go to the grocery store.

So we had croissants for breakfast. Janis cooked the eggs we bought in our quick stop in Baden last night. Then it's off to Larmor-Baden to shop the market.

not a good photo of the market - taken as an afterthought - and the market was closing when we arrived

It took 4 passes through the town to find a parking space. It was that busy. Unfortunately, we forgot my scooter battery, so I stayed in the car while the rest bought cheeses and some fresh tuna for tonight's dinner.

A quick stop home to refrigerate our "catch" and pick up my scooter battery, then off to the grocery store in Baden. The store was busy and of course the store layout is new to us, so it took awhile to find all the items on the list. That gave Clark plenty of time to pick up some wine and Dave had time to find a bottle of Calvados (brandy made from apples).

We ate lunch at home and planned a quiet afternoon. I worked on blog posts as I was 5 days behind and forgetting what we had done. Clark updated his spreadsheets and caught up on news. Dave and Janis walked the local trails which give great views of the water - just 100 yards from our house (as the crow flies).

Boats are extremely popular as you'd expect!

There's a ferry every half hour from Port Blanc (near us) to the Ile aux Moines, a large island that lies just 15 minutes by boat from the mainland.

beach here is sandy/rocky, but people swim nevertheless

By late afternoon, we were all together again and ready for our nightly routine of apéros (with new cheeses!) and dinner. (The tuna was delicious.)
