Sunday, June 19, 2022 - Cooking up a storm

Last night's storm did a lot to cool down the house and the outside temperature. We allowed ourselves to sleep in a bit as Dave had bought bread (now in the freezer) and croissants for today. Supposedly we will have rain again today. It's grey and cloudy. A great day for cooking.

Dan and Paulette have texted that they were on their way by around 9 am and would be here about 5pm. I've planned the Burgundy chicken, ratatouille, green beans, and bread pudding for tonight, with leftovers to make other dinner(s) easier.

I'm also slowly putting things back in their original places as we empty kitchen cupboards we had used to store our dry goods.

After a leisurely lunch at home, we finished the preparations and realized that the weather outside was beautiful again - no rain - sunny and in the low 70s. Shortly after, Dan and Paulette arrived - a long drive from Brussels.

After a tour of the house, Dan and Paulette chose the ensuite bedroom off the kitchen and brought in their things.

We had a leisurely dinner where we caught up on the news since we last saw them in Burgundy. Then the boys got to work planning our outing for tomorrow - a boat ride and tour of Belle Isle (Beautiful Island). The island is quite large with several towns and lots of beaches to explore. So we made plans to rent a car for our day on the island. A complicated process working with 2 websites, in French, on a slow connection. But with Dan's French and computer savvy, after only an hour and a half (haha), we had tickets for the 9:30 ferry to Belle Isle and reservations for a car large enough to carry the scooter when we arrived.

Time for bed, we need to get going early tomorrow to make the boat in time.
