Mirepoix Market - Hike to Teilhet & Merovingian Cemetery - June 17, 2024

We're out of food - especially fruit and vegetables, and the Richgels haven't yet seen the bastide part of Mirepoix. We're also not moving too fast after yesterday's adventure. Also, it's hard to go to bed when it's light until 10 PM. We arrived around 10:30 - the most crowded time at the market. sigh. We also had to park in the overflow parking lot a block further away. (Nothing's that far in this town.)

I've been wanting to show Evie and Penny the Lego window at the optician's store. Evie studied it for a long time.

After buying 2 bags full of fruits chosen by Evie and Penny, vegetables for ratatouille, but no cheeses or sausages this time, we wandered the shops under the arcades. Penny found a game at the toy store and then wasn't so bored anymore.

The Richgels family checked out the church, the widest gothic nave in France, while we listened to a musician busking for tips.

Penny, Evie, Katie, and I walked (scooted) to the grocery store while Dave and Randy took the market bags to the car, then moved the car to the SuperU parking lot. Penny and Evie freed a shopping cart with a Euro and we made quick work of the grocery list.

Home for lunch, then a swim. While Randy watched the mermaids at the pool, Dave and Katie walked from Teilhet (They drove to Teilhet and left the car, then picked it up once home)

what a great use for an old phone booth!

stopping at the Merovingian cemetery on the way home.

With a fresh batch of bread pudding for dessert, and ratatouille for our vegetable, we lingered over our aperos until the evening breezes were too cold to sit out. The air became heavy and felt like rain (although it didn't rain, but it was really humid). The girls put off bedtime till 9:00 and we all followed shortly after.
